Castle clips Kahuku, 54-53

Charles Teixeira scored on a layup with seconds remaining as 10th-ranked Castle edged host Kahuku, 54-53, last night in an O'ahu Interscholastic Association boys basketball game.

Kahuku had possession and the lead, but missed a shot with about 10 seconds to play.

Castle gathered the rebound and Teixeira scored on the ensuing play.

The Knights led 33-21 at the half, but the Red Raiders closed to 41-40 entering the final period.

William Harvest led Castle with 15 points. Shosei Yamauchi scored 15 for Kahuku.

KALAHEO 61, KALANI 45: The fourth-ranked Mustangs trailed 24-22 at halftime but outscored the Falcons 18-7 in the third period to improve to 3-0.

Sam Wilhoite scored 13 of his 17 points in the second half to lead Kalaheo.

Sophomore Dustin Umeda scored a season-high 33 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead Kalani.
