Authors vie for awards

Nominees for the National Book Critics Circle Prize have been announced: In fiction, Ian McEwan's "Atonement," Jeffrey Eugenides' "Middlesex," Aleksandar Hemon's "No-where Man," William Ken-nedy's "Ros-coe," and also "The Darts of Cupid" by Ed-ith Templeton.
General nonfiction nominees are Chris Hedges' "War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning," William Langewiesche's "American Ground," Samantha Power's "A Problem from Hell," Richard Rodriguez's "Brown" and Gaby Wood's "Edison's Eve." Winners will be announced Feb. 26.
