BYU-Hawai'i drops first league game

Dan Thompson scored 27 points to lead Montana State-Billings to an 89-76 upset win over Brigham Young University-Hawai'i last night in Billings, Mont.

It was just the second PacWest win of the season for the Yellowjackets, who improved to 8-6 overall and 2-4 in league.

BYUH, ranked sixth in the West region, dropped its first league game, in falling to 9-2, 3-1.

The Seasiders were led by Alexus Foyle, who scored 23 points, 18 coming in the first half. Scott Salisbury finished with 19 points and seven rebounds.

• Western New Mexico University 81, Hawai'i Pacific, 75: Malcolm Connor led five Mustangs in double figures with 14 points in the win over the Sea Warriors at Silver City, N.M.

Aaron Abrams led the Sea Warriors (12-3, 1-2 PacWest) with 20 points, while Marvin Noble added 17.

The Mustangs are 3-11, 1-5 PacWest.
