Kamehameha's Willing to play for BYU

By Stacy Kaneshiro

Advertiser all-state offensive lineman R.J. Willing of Kamehameha said today he will accept a scholarship offer from Brigham Young.

"When I went on my trip, it was the one I was most comfortable with because of the church thing," he said. "It was where I fit in the best."

He also visited Oregon and Washington, and was supposed to visit Utah and Hawai'i.

Willing, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound senior, just returned from his trip to BYU. He discussed his choice with his parents this morning.

He said BYU will allow him to go on a church mission, which he said was a factor in his decision.

The first day high school recruits may sign binding national letters of intent is Feb. 5.
