Help sought in cases of missing children

Authorities are asking for the public's help in finding two children reported missing.

Honolulu Police Department and the Missing Child Center-Hawaii are looking for Elena Leolokomaika Carvalho, 11. Carvalho left a foster home in Kapolei on Aug. 26.

Police believe Elena is with her biological mother, Brandi Vierra, for whom Family Court has issued an arrest warrant.

Elena may be using the name Elena Raymond and the two are believed to be in the 'Ewa area.

Elena is described as 5 feet 2 and 109 pounds, with dark-brown long hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information should call Detective Erik Iinuma at 529-3099 or Missing Child Center-Hawaii at 753-9797, or anonymously to CrimeStoppers at 955-8300, or *CRIME on a cellular phone.

Also, State Department of Human Services officials are seeking a possible runaway. Charla Jean Young, a 16-year-old Wai'anae High School student, was last seen Oct. 8.

Young has been known to frequent the Wahiawa and Waipahu areas. She has brown-black hair, a pierced tongue and tattoos on her legs.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the Department of Human Services at 832-5300.
