Woman locked out of stolen vehicle

A 27-year-old woman was arrested Wednesday in Ala Moana after she asked a police officer to help her unlock a stolen car she had been driving.

The woman flagged down an officer along Hobron Lane around noon, and told him that she locked herself out of her car, police said. The officer became suspicious after the woman gave inconsistent answers about "her" vehicle.

While two male acquaintances of the woman tried to open the car, the officer checked the car's license plate and found it didn't match the vehicle, police said.

After the men managed to unlock the car, the officer noticed the car's vehicle identification number also did not match up. The woman was arrested after she confessed that she had been driving a stolen vehicle.

The woman could face charges for fourth-degree theft, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, and fraudulent use of a license plate. The two men, ages 31 and 48, were also arrested for attempted unauthorized entry into a motorized vehicle.
