For better or for worse, the University of Hawai'i does not rank among the Princeton Review's list of top schools that party hearty. (Neither does any other Hawai'i school.) First on the list is Indiana University in the small town of Bloomington, where there's little else to do but party.

Other contenders: Clemson University, a South Carolina school where the social life revolves around the football team; the University of Alabama-Tuscaloosa, which slipped a notch this year to No. 3; Penn State University, with a student population the size of many American towns; and the University of Florida, where life revolves around sports.

The party-school rankings, listed in the 2003 "The 345 Best Colleges" guide, are based on on survey questions about the use of alcohol and drugs, hours of study each day and the popularity of fraternities and sororities.

Guacamole can be customized to fit nearly any taste. Here's the base recipe from the bureau, which represents California avocado growers: Mash four large ripe, peeled and pitted avocados. Mix with a tablespoon of lemon or lime juice and add salt to taste. Serve with tortilla chips.
