Bicyclist killed in crash identified
The city medical examiner's office yesterday identified the victim of a bicycle-truck accident in 'Ewa as William Lee Ellanna.
Ellanna, 17, died Thursday from injuries suffered early Sunday morning when he was hit by a pickup truck on Fort Weaver Road while riding a bike. Ellanna died at 4:15 a.m. Thursday at The Queen's Medical Center.
Six people have died in traffic accidents on O'ahu this year.
Hiker OK after falling 120 feet
A 56-year-old woman escaped serious injury yesterday after falling about 120 feet while hiking on the Hau'ula Trail.
The woman, described as a visitor, used a cell phone to call for help about 4:20 p.m., said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Richard Soo. The woman said she had fallen off the trail and needed help.
But Soo said the phone's battery died and fire officials were unable to get more information from her. Firefighters from the Hau'ula station hiked into the trail and were able to make voice contact with the woman about 5:30, Soo said.
The woman was found about 120 feet below the trail, he said. She was carried out of the trail shortly after 9 p.m. and taken to Kahuku Hospital for treatment of superficial injuries to her head and legs, Soo said.
Man, 42, charged with sexual assault
Police yesterday charged a 42-year-old man with three counts of third-degree felony sex assault in connection with three attacks on two girls, ages 13 and 7, in October. Kenneth Wayne Puni, who has no permanent local address, is being held in lieu of $35,000 bail.
Hanalei man arrested in attack
LIHU'E, Kaua'i Police yesterday arrested a 30-year-old Hanalei man on charges of sexual assault and first-degree burglary yesterday for an alleged attack on his ex-girlfriend at a campsite in the state's Polihale Beach Park.
Police said the victim identified Tracy Johnson as the man who showed up at her campsite Thursday and demanded the keys to the truck she was driving. She said he then pushed her into a tent and assaulted her. She was treated at Kaua'i Veterans Memorial Hospital.
Man sought in theft, fraud cases
Honolulu police are seeking a man wanted for questioning in theft cases in which construction materials were ordered and delivered for home improvement projects, but never paid for.
Henry Leo Kaiser, 46, is also wanted in the investigation of a construction fraud case, in which an elderly Kailua woman paid for services that were never completed. Kaiser may be operating from a 1991 silver Ford van.
Kaiser, who police consider dangerous, is also wanted for two family court warrants and has previous convictions for robbery, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, weapons, and felony assault.
Kaiser, who also goes by Henry Fujimoto, is 5 feet 11 and 225 pounds, with dark brown hair, brown eyes, mustache and beard.
The van has Hawai'i license plate JCX482.
