Former Hawai'i Pacific University administrator GEORGE A. MOYER JR. has been named vice president of Hawai'i Baptist Academy.
Moyer retired from the Air Force in 1989 after serving as deputy director of logistics, engineering and security assistance for U.S. Pacific Command. He also served 10 years as HPU assistant dean of the Graduate Service Center and dean of the Military Campus Programs. He is a past president of the Hawai'i Pacific Baptist Convention.
The private Hawai'i Baptist Academy, with about 73 faculty members on two campuses in Nu'uanu, serves about 1,000 students, from kindergarten to the 12th grade.
NATHAN M.G. YIM has been named chief financial officer for the Hawai'i Health Systems Corp., O'ahu region, including oversight of financial operations of HHSC's Leahi Hospital and Maluhia Long-term Care Health Center.
Established in 1996, HHSC is a state public benefit corporation, providing "hometown" healthcare, particularly in rural island locations where private hospital service is limited.
Yim is former financial and operational manager for 'Ohana Pacific Management Co. and, before that, longtime controller for Beverly Enterprises.
DAVID KOCH, former president of Star Seigle Advertising, has been promoted to president of parent company Star Seigle Communications, assuming additional duties in overall operations. Koch and PHIL WOOD, vice chairman of the board, and JACK BATES, chairman of the board and chief executive officer, will form a "triad of sorts" to manage the company, said Bates. The company has operations in New York, Las Vegas, Guam and Hong Kong.
DAVID ROBERTS, formerly general manager of the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua hotel on Maui, has been named general manager at the 540-room Kohala Coast Fairmont Orchid, Hawai'i, formerly The Orchid at Mauna Lani. He also named regional vice president of Fairmont Hotels & Resorts operations in Hawai'i, overseeing both the Orchid property, as well as the Fairmont Kea Lani hotel on Maui. Roberts, who was born in Kenya and educated in England, has been in the hospitality industry for 24 years.
KENNETH CHOATE, executive vice president of Haseko Construction Inc. has been named president of the 2003 board of directors of the Building Industry Association of Hawai'i, the local affiliate of the National Association of Home Builders. Other officers: immediate past president, CRAIG WATASE of Mark Development Inc.; president-elect, JOHN CHEUNG of CC Engineering & Construction Inc.; vice president, FRED MOORE of Honolulu Shipyard Inc.; secretary, ALAN SHINTANI of Alan Shintani Inc.; and treasurer, CHARLES AU of Erwin, Cabrinha & Au LLP.
At its recent banquet, the Hawai'i association recognized CRAIG WATASE, president of Mark Development, as builder of the year; SCOTTY ANDERSON of Familian Northwest as associate member of the year; and PETER ELDRIDGE of Raynor Pacific Overhead Doors Ltd. as specialty contractor of the year.
STEVE DAVIS has been named chief operations officer for SystemMetrics, a network and managed hosting company based in downtown Honolulu. Davis is former vice president of technology and chief technology officer for Exodus Communications and served as general manager, offshore development, for the IBM company JIEC.
ERIC OMICK has been named executive chef for Paradise Cruise Ltd., overseeing production of meals for more than 400,000 passengers annually aboard the 13 daily cruises of the Star of Honolulu and the Starlet. Omick was formerly a sous chef with the cruise line.
