UH women's volleyball picked to win WAC

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team was picked to win the Western Athletic Conference regular-season championship for eighth consecutive year, the conference office announced today.

"It was to be expected," said Dave Shoji, the UH coach.

UH earned nine of the 10 first-place votes — coaches were not allowed to vote for themselves — in balloting among head coaches.

UH returns three first-team all-WAC selections from last year's 34-2 team, Lily Kahumoku, Kim Willoughby and Lauren Duggins.

UH opens the season Aug. 22 against Kansas State in the 2003 State Farm NACWAA Tournament at the Stan Sheriff Center.
