Independence Day fireworks displays

Schofield Barracks celebrated Independence Day with a fireworks display last year, and will do it again this year.

Here is a list of public fireworks displays and some other events:

July 3

  • ALOHA TOWER: Entertainment, fashion show and food booths, 5:30 p.m., with fireworks at 8:45 p.m. Free.
  • TURTLE BAY RESORT: Jazz Celebration, with guitarist Lee Ritenour, food and drink booths, 6:30 p.m. Fireworks display at 9:15 p.m. Tickets are $22 advance, $28 at the door. Parking is $5. 293-8811.

July 4

  • MARINE CORPS BASE HAWAI'I KANE'OHE BAY: BayFest (Friday-Sunday) will feature food, entertainment, carnival rides and fireworks Friday at 9 p.m., Saturday at 9:15 p.m. and Sunday at 8:30 p.m. Pre-sale tickets are $8. Call 254-7563.
  • MAGIC ISLAND: Fireworks display, 8:30 p.m., presented by Ala Moana Center.
  • KAILUA: Fourth of July Parade, presented by the Kailua Chamber of Commerce Fourth of July Celebration, beginning at 10 a.m. on Kainalu Drive. Fireworks display off Flat Island 7:30 p.m.
  • PEARL HARBOR: July Fourth Block Party and Fireworks Spectacular, 1-9 p.m., next to Merry Point, Pearl Harbor; fireworks show at 8:30 p.m. Open to military-affiliated personnel, family members and guests. Free. Call 473-0606.
  • SCHOFIELD BARRACKS: Fourth of July Spectacular, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., including entertainment by The Down Boys and Tino & the Rhythm Klub at 4:35 p.m., fireworks display 8:15 p.m., Sills Field. Free and open to the public.
  • BIG ISLAND: Free fireworks displays: 8:30 p.m. at Kings' Shop in the Waikoloa Beach Resort; 8:45 p.m. at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and 8:30 p.m. at Four Seasons Resort. In Hilo, the Jaycees are sponsoring a display at Coconut Island in Hilo Harbor at 8 p.m.
  • MAUI: Free fireworks displays: 8:45 p.m. at the War Memorial Complex in Wailuku; 8:30 p.m. offshore Lahaina; 8:45 p.m. at the Grand Wailea Resort in Wailea.
  • KAUA'I: "Concert in the Sky," annual fund-raiser for Kaua'i Hospice, featuring entertainment, family activities, ending with a fireworks show, 3-9:30 p.m., Vidinha Stadium. Admission — $10 general, $7 in advance.

July 5

  • LANA'I: Fireworks display at the Lanai City soccer field, 9:30 p.m.
