Traffic victims' family to be helped by funds

Advertiser Staff

Memorial funds have been established for the family of Donna Brzezowski, a homeless woman whose husband, Paul, and 7-year-old son, Matthew, were killed Friday on Farrington Highway in Nanakuli.

The two were on their way to pick up a birthday cake when they were struck by a van.

Anyone wishing to make a donation can contribute to the Brzezowski Memorial Fund at any Bank of Hawai'i branch facility or the Brzezowski Community Fund at any First Hawaiian Bank.

Other Wai'anae Coast factions are trying to help out in other ways.

"We're going to have a benefit concert for the family on Aug. 24 to raise money for their expenses," said Patty Teruya. "Anyone who wants to volunteer, contribute or help please call Ivan Laikupu 696-2337 or me at 527-5815. Proceeds will go to help the family."

Ma'ili Elementary School, where Matthew was a first-grader, will collect money for the family when school starts July 24, said principal Linda Victor.

All Matthew's brothers and sisters attended the school; a cousin is in its HeadStart program, she said.

"He was very active, very interested, very aware of everything," Victor said. "He was very excited about school."
