How Hawai'i hotels are faring

O'ahu occupancy showed a strong 10.9 percent improvement to 79.4 percent for the week ended Saturday, according to Hospitality Advisors LLC. The increase in occupancy for O'ahu followed strong gains in domestic arrivals to O'ahu during the second half of the month, according to preliminary data from the state Department of Business Economic Development and Tourism. Statewide hotel occupancy also improved by 7.2 percent to 80.9 percent for the week. However, the statewide average daily rate dropped by 3.5 percent to $139.71.
