Identity sought on burned body

Police are trying to identify a badly burned body that was found in the charred remains of a Hilo, Hawai'i, residence yesterday. The body was so badly burned that the sex, age and identity of the victim could not be determined.

The body was discovered by police and firefighters who responded to a structure fire just before 7 a.m. in the Honoli'i Lookout area. When police arrived at the Makaikai Place address, they found the residence fully engulfed in flames. The home was declared a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Firefighters found the body in the lower-level of the structure. An autopsy has been ordered.

Arrest made in July 4 shooting

Police have arrested a 28-year-old man in connection with the shooting of a man during an argument on the Fourth of July . The men were fighting on Ohai Street in Wahiawa at about 8 p.m. when the shooting happened. The victim was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition.


'Aiea attackers still on the loose

Police are looking for the men responsible for the July 4 stabbing of a 20-year-old 'Aiea man. According to police, the man was at a party when three men ages 18 to 20 rode up in a green jeep shortly after 6 p.m.

The men, who were armed with a knife and clubs, began fighting with the 'Aiea man, police said. The man, who was stabbed in the back, walked to a 7-Eleven store on 'Aiea Heights Drive for help.
