Fourth arrest in attack at beach

Police yesterday arrested a 39-year-old man suspected of being one of four people involved in the March 30 beating of a man at Waimanalo Beach Park. Yesterday's arrest was the fourth in the case.

The man was booked on suspicion of second-degree assault and released pending further investigation.

The victim, 51, was attacked after attempting to stop another man from choking and beating a dog.

Kahuku man fatally shot

A 54-year-old man was shot to death yesterday in Kahuku. The victim, who has not yet been positively identified by the medical examiner's office, was taken to Kahuku Hospital at 9:30 a.m. by the alleged gunman, a 53-year-old who was booked on suspicion of second-degree murder.

The suspect told police the shooting was accidental. It happened on farm land where the two allegedly were growing marijuana, police said.

Woman stabbed during dispute

A 38-year-old woman was in critical condition today at The Queen's Medical Center after being stabbed last night during an argument at Ka'a'ahi Street and Ka'amahu Place in Iwilei. Police early today arrested a homeless 37-year-old woman two hours after the 10:15 p.m. incident.

The victim suffered stab wounds in her upper torso, police said.

Boy, 13, to face charges in fire

Charges are pending against a 13-year-old boy whom police said admitted starting fire on Friday at Mililani Middle School. The fire caused extensive damage to lighting fixtures and electrical wiring in the art building. Police said firecrackers were used to start the fire.

The damage was discovered Sunday. The boy was booked yesterday on suspicion of second-degree criminal property damage.
