THE LEFT LANE
Know a 'Groomzilla'? If you do, let us know

Advertiser Staff

You've heard of that bride-to-be who nearly lost it when the off-white invitations she ordered turned out to be a little too ecru, or who delegated millions of tasks among family and friends like there were 25 hours a day and eight days a week. ...

But what about those closet "Groomzillas"?

If you know a man who almost blew his top on his way to wedding bliss when something didn't go as planned, or who took full charge of his wedding planning (we're talking his way or the highway), we'd like to hear from you.

Share your story by e-mailing zespanol@honoluluadvertiser.com or call 535-8174.

Calling all musubi

So you think you have the musubi — the one that would turn heads, get the saliva going and prove to be the champ in a decorating contest?

Then "Got Musubi," from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday at Wabi Sabi, 1223 Koko Head Ave. No. 4, just might be calling you.

To celebrate "Musubi Kichigai (Crazy Musubi)," the gift shop is conducting a musubi-decorating contest. There's no advance sign-up, so entries must be delivered to Wabi Sabi between 9 and 10 a.m., where they will be judged over the next hour. The public can view the creations from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Contests for adults and kids (12 and under) are available, rules prevail for adults: rice creations must use nori, and be crafted in two divisions — traditional triangle and rice sculpture. Kiddies can let their imaginations run wild — no restrictions. Details: 734-3693.

Dazzling diamonds

If diamonds are a girl's best friend and women love chocolate, what could be a greater indulgence than chocolate diamonds?

More than $3 million in diamonds (including chocolate), rubies, sapphires and pearls are traveling halfway around the world to Macy's for the Le Vian sale and exposition Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Ala Moana Center.

The show will feature the best of the Le Vian oeuvre, including the Deco Estate and Le Vian watch collections. The jewelry, billed to be fit for a queen, will be on sale and informally modeled by reigning Mrs. America Kristi Phillips.

AJA reparations

Sometimes justice takes 42 years. Sponsored by the Consumer Lawyers of Hawaii, the Celebration of Justice 2003 Dinner & Silent Auction will honor the road to the United States' official reparations to Japanese Americans for internment during World War II.

Keynote speakers Fred Korematsu and attorney Dale Minami will share their story of their fight against Executive Order 9066, the order that interned first- and second-generation Japanese in 1942. Remember the events with them at 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Ilikai Renaissance Waikiki.
