"The Bread My Sweet": Scott Baio stars as a corporate raider who also owns a pastry shop that provides jobs for his two brothers. Upstairs live their landlords, whose daughter enters Baio's life after she is called home in an emergency. Opens tomorrow at The Art House at Restaurant Row. (Not rated)

"Charlotte Sometimes": A man lives alone, hearing through the walls the sounds of his tenants making love. But after sex, the woman next door prefers to spend her nights with him. The man meets a woman in a bar, and they talk and feel powerfully attracted, but she is private and elusive. An intriguing tension exists, in which everyone involved feels trapped. Directed by Eric Byler of Honolulu. Opens tomorrow at The Art House at Restaurant Row. (Not rated; for mature audiences)

"Love and Diane": An acclaimed documentary: The story of Diane Hazzard, a recovering crack addict, her teenage daughter Love, and Love's HIV-positive baby. Opens tomorrow at The Art House at Restaurant Row. (Not rated)

"Winged Migration": Jacques Perrin's Oscar-nominated film does for birds what the 1996 documentary "Microcosmos" did for insects: It looks at them intimately, very close up, in shots that seem impossible to explain. In French, with English subtitles. Opens tomorrow at Varsity Twin. (G)
