How Hawai'i hotels are faring

Kaua'i showed a 3.3 percent gain in occupancy over the prior year to 87.4 percent as the Neighbor Islands enjoyed an improvement in hotel occupancy for the week ended July 5, according to Hospitality Advisors LLC. Statewide occupancy also improved slightly to 78.9 percent for the week. However, the statewide average daily rate dropped by 5.9 percent to $142.91. O'ahu occupancy declined by 2.1 percent to 75.4 percent, with its average room rate dropping by 8.3 percent.
