Golfer sues cart driver, course in freak accident

Advertiser Staff

A man who was impaled on a fence post while riding as a passenger in a golf cart at an 'Ewa Beach course last year is suing the driver of the cart and the golf course.

The lawsuit was filed in Circuit Court yesterday by attorney John Yamano on behalf of Harry Noguchi, who was critically injured in the May 2002 accident. The suit says Dexter Moon drove the cart negligently and that the New Ewa Beach Golf Club Inc. failed to maintain its premises in a reasonably safe condition.

Noguchi, 64, seeks damages, with the amount to be determined at trial.

Moon and golf course officials could not be reached last night to comment.

In a story in the Advertiser the day after the May 15 accident, Moon, 59, said he was driving along a cart path when he heard scraping sounds and saw Noguchi bent over in pain.

Moon recalled pressing a towel to Noguchi's abdomen while waiting for help.

Noguchi lost a kidney as a result of the freak accident.
