Council seeks new city clerk

Advertiser Staff

The City Council is looking for a replacement for longtime City Clerk Genevieve Wong, who retired at the beginning of July.

The city clerk supervises the staff responsible for maintaining the records, legislation and rules of the city, as well as conducting city elections.

Candidates should have at least five years of management experience, including the supervision of a multi-departmental staff, be comfortable dealing with the public and the media and have experience with elections. Salary will depend on qualifications.

Councilwoman Barbara Marshall will head the selection committee, which includes Councilwoman Ann Kobayashi, former City Clerk Ray Pua and retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Frances Mossman.

Anyone interested in applying should send a resume and references to Marshall at Honolulu Hale, 530 S. King St., Honolulu, HI 96813. Applications may also be made by fax at 550-6701, or e-mail bmarshall@co.honolulu.hi.us. The application deadline is Wednesday.
