Advertiser to print Army Weekly

Advertiser Staff

The Honolulu Advertiser has been selected to print and distribute Hawai'i Army Weekly, the newspaper published by the 25th Infantry Division for Army personnel in Hawai'i.

Hawai'i Army Weekly, with a circulation of 15,300, is the only authorized Army newspaper publication, as well as the most widely circulated military newspaper, in the state. Hawai'i Navy News, also published by The Advertiser, ranks second with 14,000 copies.

"We're delighted to include Hawai'i Army Weekly in our family of newspapers," said Mark Adkins, senior vice president of marketing for The Advertiser. "This addition enables us to offer Hawai'i businesses an important niche-marketing opportunity, and we are pleased to expand our presence in Hawai'i's military community, which is vital to all of us."

Mike Fisch, president and publisher of The Advertiser, said: "We're looking forward to working with the U.S. Army Pacific to enhance the quality of their newspaper and to assist in enhancing the quality of the living experience for active duty personnel and their families while they're in Hawai'i."

Hawai'i Army Weekly reaches Army personnel, dependents, retirees and government workers at Schofield, Fort Shafter, Wheeler, Fort DeRussy and other military sites. The first issue printed by The Advertiser will appear Aug. 14.

Publishers competed for the multi-year contract, which is limited to six years and provides exclusive distribution rights on the basis of performance, experience and reliability. The Honolulu Star-Bulletin/MidWeek was the previous publisher.
