Tripler doctor named to board

The American Medical Association has elected Hawai'i diagnostic radiology resident Kevin C. Reilly Sr. as a member of the AMA's board of trustees as a resident fellow physician. Reilly is an Army major and practices at Tripler Army Medical Center.


HPU educator in Brazil seminar

Dr. Niti Villinger, assistant professor of management at the Hawai'i Pacific University College of Business, is one of nine selectees nationwide to attend the Fulbright Hays Seminar Abroad program in Brazil this summer.

The seminar is designed to promote an understanding of the resources and economy of Brazil and involves travel throughout the country.


La Pietra names board member

Charlotte Clark has been elected to La Pietra's board of trustees for a two-year term. A retired interior designer, Clark is a graduate of Briarcliff Junior College and Stanford University.


Five receive scholarships

The Pacific Islanders in Communications, a national, nonprofit media arts organization, has awarded $2,000 scholarships to five Pacific Islander students pursuing college degrees in media or communications: LeGran Akana of Kaunakakai, Moloka'i; Jonel "Jo-Jo" Alepuyo of Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands; Maria Cristobal of Tamuning, Guam; Keoni Fernandez of Wai'anae; and Rosemarie O'Brien-Sauni of Pago Pago, American Samoa.


Hospice honors doctor, HMSA

Dr. Melvin P. Palalay has been named the Hospice Hawai'i 2003 Healthcare Professional of the Year.

Palalay, who practices at The Queen's Medical Center and Wahiawa General Hospital, graduated from Creighton Medical School in 1991.

Also, the Hawai'i Medical Service Association has been awarded the Hospice Hawai'i Community Supporter of the Year.
