HONOLULU

Harris TV show taped this week

Mayor Jeremy Harris' television show tonight will focus on traffic, energy conservation and beautification.

The normally live call-in "Mayor's Report" was taped this week because Harris is giving the keynote address at the Mayor's Technology Summit in San Francisco.

Included in tonight's program is a discussion of street trees and beautification projects with Stan Oka, head of urban forestry for the city Parks Department.

Frank Doyle, director of the Department of Environmental Services, will explain how Honolulu's H-Power facility converts garbage to energy, while city energy coordinator Steve Holmes will discuss energy conservation.

Donna Kiyosaki, deputy director of the Board of Water Supply, will talk about water conservation.

The show airs from 7 to 8 p.m. on 'Olelo Channel 54.


WINDWARD O'AHU

Cars, Moloka'i products at mall

Classic cars and Moloka'i products will be featured this weekend at Windward Mall in Kane'ohe.

About 250 cars will be on display for Classic Cars Hot Cruise Nights, 6:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday.

The 16th annual Moloka'i Festival, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, will showcase the island's talent, products and food.


BYUH to host keiki chorus

A 300-person chorus will be featured in the Pacific Rim Children's Chorus Festival Concert, 7 p.m. Saturday at Cannon Activities Center at Brigham Young University-Hawai'i.

The program includes the Ko'olauloa Children's Chorus, ukulele player Bruce Shimabukuro, Kenny Endo's Taiko of the Pacific Youth Group and Chum Sa Rang Traditional Korean Dance Institute.

Admission is free. Tickets are available by calling Esther Macy at 239-1796.

Missing hiker calls home

LIHU'E, Kaua'i — A hiker reported missing after a camping trip along Na Pali got out OK, Kaua'i police said yesterday.

Scot A. Roberts, 30, made contact with his family on the West Coast early yesterday, police said. He had last been seen July 7 at Hanakapi'ai on his hike to Kalalau.
