GOLF TIPS
Keeping it clean in the fairway bunker

Jerry King, PGA

When faced with a fairway bunker shot, keep in mind a good miss is a thin miss (provided it clears the lip of the bunker). Here are a few ways to address the ball in the search for clean contact.

1. Stand slightly farther away from the ball.

2. Place hands slightly lower on the handle (grip down).

3. Dig feet into the sand just enough to provide stability, with the back foot tilted in and the arch of the foot down in the sand.

4. Select a stronger club allowing you to make a more compact, reliable swing.

After setting up with the keys that feel good to you, swing smooth with minimal weight transfer on the backswing, ensuring clean contact.
