How Hawai'i hotels are faring

Maui's hotel occupancy enjoyed a 5.4 percent gain to 84.1 percent while holding the highest room rate at $196.52 for the week ended Saturday, according to Hospitality Advisors LLC. Statewide hotel occupancy also improved by 2.0 percent to 76.8 percent for the week. However, statewide average daily room rate dropped by 1.8 percent to $144.75. Big Island saw a significant gain in occupancy while Kauai experienced a small decline.
