This little piggy going to the farm fair that starts today

Advertiser Staff

Thirteen-month-old Toby Goodwin got a good look at a porker at last year's farm fair. The critters are back at Aloha Stadium today.

Hawaii State Farm Fair

Three consecutive weekends: today-Sunday, July 25-27, July 31-Aug. 3

6 p.m.-midnight Fridays and July 31; noon-midnight Saturdays and Sundays

Aloha Stadium lower parking lot

$3 general, $1.50 kids 5-11, free for keiki 4 and younger 485-1770 (farm fair office); 848-2074 (Hawaii Farm Bureau Federation), www.hawaiistatefarmfair.org

Parking fee: $5 per vehicle at Aloha Stadium

One thing the Hawaii State Farm Fair has over the 50th State Fair: extreme animal scents. Is that good or bad? You be the judge. It's the only chance many urbanites have each year to get up close and personal with critters that go moooo and oink.

If you're not into animals, there are other attractions at this fund-raiser for the Hawaii Farm Bureau in the Aloha Stadium parking lot. If you're heading to the fair in the daytime, wear sunscreen and a hat: It gets really hot there.
