WAILUKU, Maui — Three Maui police officers joined the Hawai'i Fugitive Task Force formed earlier this year under a federal crime-fighting initiative.

The task force includes members of the county police departments, the U.S. Marshals Service, state and county prosecutors and the state Department of Public Safety.

The three Maui officers were sworn in Wednesday as special deputy U.S. marshals by U.S. Marshal Mark Hanohano. They are Lt. Wayne Ibarra, Sgt. Barry Kubo and officer Mark Vickers.

Since its first arrest in March, the Hawai'i Fugitive Task Force has arrested more than 100 felons and seized cash, guns and crystal methamphetamine.
