Arceneaux will start at quarterback today in an arenafootball2 game against the San Diego Riptide in place of Mike Tillis.
Kickoff at the San Diego Sports Arena is set for 4:30 p.m. (HST).
Arceneaux took every snap the first eight games, but broke the fifth metacarpal in his right (throwing) hand prior to the May 31 game against the Louisville Fire.
Arceneaux replaced Tillis on the first possession of last week's game at the Tulsa Talons. Tillis was shaken up after a long run.
Arceneaux struggled early, but finished 11 of 25 for 184 yards and five touchdowns in the 48-47 loss. He went 4 of 4 for 81 yards and three touchdowns in the third quarter.
"From his last performance I thought he played pretty well," Islanders head coach Cal Lee said of Arceneaux.
Arceneaux said he was disappointed with his performance.
"I didn't play that well; we lost the game," he said. "I don't live on stats. I'm more about winning game."
As a starter this season, Arceneaux is 6-2.
"It feels good," Arceneaux said of regaining his starting role. "I'm glad to get out there with my teammates again."
The Islanders (9-5) are one of the few teams with two game-tested quarterbacks.
"It's a good feeling knowing (Tillis) can step in if he has too," Lee said. "We know what he can do. Having two quarterbacks is something everyone would like to have."
Islanders leading receiver Nian Taylor will not be available for the second consecutive game because of a hamstring injury.
This season, Taylor has caught 64 passes for 993 yards and 26 touchdowns.
The Islanders are coming off back-to-back losses for the first time this season, having lost to the Quad City Steamwheelers three weeks ago.
"Losing two in a row is not a good feeling," Lee said. "They've showed in practice, working to get back into the win column."
The Islanders have already clinched a playoff spot, but are still fighting for the National West Division title. The Wichita Stealth are 8-6 and the Bakersfield Blitz are 7-7.
The Islanders have won both games against San Diego (5-9) this season by a combined nine points.
"The only thing I'm certain of is it'll be a tough game," Lee said. "The last two meetings were no different."
The Islanders focused on special teams during practice this week after repeated breakdowns on kickoff coverage last week against Tulsa.
In that game, the Talons' average starting field position on the Islanders' eight kickoffs was the Islanders' 20. Things were so bad, the Islanders sent kickoffs out-of-bounds on their final three attempts, which put the ball at the Talons' 20 or better.
"We put extra emphasis on special teams; hopefully that will help," Lee said.
