The State Foundation on Culture and the Arts has cast its direction through 2008 with a strategic plan.
An abridged version of the five-year blueprint, created July 10, provided in a news release, articulates five key priorities:
- To provide leadership and advocacy for culture and the arts in Hawai'i, and to promote better collaboration and communication between the foundation, the culture and the arts community, the business community, policy-makers,and the general public.
- To increase financial support of the culture and arts community and the foundation's mission.
- To reach people with limited access to culture and the arts, especially rural communities and the Neighbor Islands.
- To undertake initiatives focusing on Native Hawaiian culture and the arts, in partnership with the Hawaiian culture and arts community and interested organizations.
- To advance the goal of ensuring that the arts are integral to the education of every student in Hawai'i.
Development of the plan began in August 2002.
