English outscores Savovic in professional debut

In a matchup of former University of Hawai'i guards, Carl English outscored Predrag Savovic, 5-0, last night during a Reebok Rocky Mountain Revue summer league professional basketball game at Salt Lake City, Utah.

But Savovic's team — the Denver Nuggets — beat English's team — a combined Indiana Pacers/Philadelphia 76ers squad — by a 98-73 score.

English, in his first game as a pro, played 17 minutes and shot 1 for 4 from both 2-point and 3-point range. The Pacers rookie also had three rebounds and three assists.

Savovic, in his second year with the Nuggets, played 12 minutes and shot 0 for 3. He added four rebounds and one assist.

Nene Hilario scored 24 points and rookie Carmelo Anthony added 22 for Denver.
