A Canadian couple was robbed Friday on the Kapa'a County Beach Park Road in North Kohala.

A man waved the couple down as they were driving down the road at about 10:50 a.m. Thinking the man might have had car trouble, the couple pulled over, North Kohala patrol officers said.

The couple told police that the man pulled a handgun and demanded money. The robber grabbed a handbag with an undisclosed amount of cash and jewelry, took the keys to the couple's rental car and drove off.

The couple described the robber as being in his mid-30s, about 5 feet 10 and 160 to 170 pounds. He was driving an older model grayish-beige, full-size sedan.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Zachary N. Houchin of the Kona Criminal Investigation Section at 326-4232.
