Four suspects in Big Island robbery detained

Advertiser Staff

HILO, Hawai'i — Big Island police have arrested four of five suspects in an armed robbery that occurred early July 17 in Puna.

Two juvenile suspects, aged 14 and 15, were charged Tuesday with robbery, burglary and terroristic threatening, and were turned over to Family Court authorities. Two adult suspects also were arrested, and a fifth suspect remains at large.

The robbery occurred when five males forced their way into a residence on Ka'ohe Homestead Road near Pahoa, said detective Richard Sherlock. Two of the robbers were armed with guns and one had a bow and arrow, he said. The victim said the robbers demanded drugs and cash, and took marijuana and personal items.

Patrol officers responding to the victim's 911 call spotted several males walking along the road and arrested Waimoku Lum Ho, 19, of Hilo. The rest fled into the surrounding heavy brush.

Lum Ho was charged Friday with robbery, burglary, terroristic threatening, two drug offenses and two firearm offenses. Another suspect, Brandon Jason Enos, 21, turned himself in and was charged yesterday with robbery, burglary, terroristic threatening and two firearms offenses, including possession of a sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun.

Anyone with information about the robbery should call Sherlock at (808) 961-2379 or the police nonemergency number at (808) 935-3311.
