Chang's Heisman campaign kicks off

BOISE, Idaho — University of Hawai'i quarterback Tim Chang's campaign for the Heisman Trophy was launched yesterday with the distribution of 120 promotional DVDs.

The DVD, simply entitled "TC For Heisman," contains highlights of Chang, as well as comments from Jones.

"I told you he's worthy," Jones said.

When reminded that he predicted Chang, a fourth-year junior, would win the Heisman Trophy in 2004, Jones said, "He can do it this year, too."

Injustice for all: Jones said a school-wide freeze might prevent his nine assistant coaches from receiving raises this year.

Jones said he has recommended raises for his assistants for the past three years.

"They've done a great job, and they deserve to be paid more," Jones said.

The UH coaches are awaiting approval of the athletic department budget for the fiscal year that started July 1.
