Maui police wound man in shooting

KULA, Maui — An unidentified man was injured this morning in a shooting by a Maui Police Department patrol officer in Kula near the Waiohuli Hawaiian Homes subdivision.The man, who was shot at 8:15 a.m., was transported to Maui Memorial Medical Center in Wailuku, where he was treated for injuries described as “not critical,” said Lt. Jon Morioka.
No patrol officers were injured in the incident, he said.
Morioka said police were not releasing the name of the injured man. Investigators were still on the scene, he said, and no other information was available.
