Marriott, union agree on deal

The Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort reached a tentative agreement on a new contract with 550 union members, said Local 5 of the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees Union in a news release.

The contract matches agreements with other major Waikiki hotels, the union said. The 1,300-room Waikiki Beach Marriott, formerly the Hawaiian Regent Hotel, is owned by CNL Hospitality and managed by Marriott International.



Northwest sets new daily flights

Northwest Airlines announced new daily nonstop service between Minneapolis/St. Paul and Honolulu and between Seattle and Maui starting Dec. 17.

The Honolulu flight will replace the daily service between Los Angeles and Honolulu, the airlines said.
