Tonight's Must-See
"Undefeated," 5 p.m., HBO. John Leguizamo already has shown he's a gifted actor and comedian. Now comes his next step directing and starring in this drama about boxing. In the tradition of such films, the hero rises in the boxing world while losing friends and gaining entanglements with mobsters. It's a serious role and Leguizamo ended up training six hours a day, sparring with real boxers.
Of Note
"Last Comic Standing," 6 p.m., Comedy Central. If you missed Tuesday's key episode, here is a rerun. The field is trimmed from six stand-up comedians to the final five.
"Mighty Joe Young" (1998), 7 p.m., ABC. In this remake of a 1949 film, Charlize Theron plays someone who grew up in a jungle alongside a giant gorilla. When he's threatened by poachers, she agrees to take him to a preserve. Troubles continue, alas, leading to a showdown.
"Apollo 13" (1995), 8 p.m., USA Network. Ron Howard beautifully directed this story about the 1970 space mission that teetered toward tragedy. Inside the Apollo 13 capsule, the crew (Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon and Bill Paxton) tries to improvise a solution. On the ground, Ed Harris leads the search for an alternative plan.
"Hack," 8 p.m., CBS. In this rerun, Mike meets an old high school girlfriend. Her sister, a homeless schizophrenic, says someone is trying to kill her.
