Rain, humidity to last through today

Advertiser Staff

Remnants of Tropical Storm Felicia, a low pressure system to the northwest, and a lot of moist tropical air coming up from the southeast hit the Islands this weekend, causing heavy rain, stifling humidity and lightning storms that are expected to play across the skies into this afternoon.

The trade winds should return tomorrow, marking an end to all of this, said Tim Craig, lead forecaster at the National Weather Service in Honolulu.

The system moved across the Kaua'i end of the state Friday night and yesterday, and is expected to continue across the Island chain, hitting each of the islands by this afternoon.

The weather system will then continue on to the north, allowing the trade winds to return, Craig said.
