THE LEFT LANE
Going Goodwill online

Advertiser Staff

Love thrift-store finds but long for the convenience of shopping from home? Look no further than shopgoodwill.com — the cyberspace version of Goodwill Industries that works something like eBay. The site shows clothes, antiques and collectibles from Goodwill's vast inventory of donations. Place your bid and that Tiny Thumbelina doll or Craftsman circular saw can be yours. Proceeds are used for education, job training and job placement programs for the disabled and disadvantaged.

'Look For Less' call

Style Network's "The Look For Less" — which shows the hottest fashion trends and ways to get the same looks without breaking the bank — will visit our shores next month to tape a future show. Host Elisabeth Hasselbeck and crew are looking for locals to work their magic on. Visit www.stylenetwork.com, but know that participants have to be 18 and older. The deadline is Wednesday.

Symphony books Yes

Yes, today; Rolling Stones, tomorrow?

The Honolulu Symphony has booked Yes, the classic-rock band from England for a one-night concert with the orchestra, 8 p.m. Sept. 27 at the Blaisdell Arena.

The add-on program is not part of the orchestra's classics or pops series; it is the first performance by the Yes here in 16 years. Tickets — $45 and $65 — go on sale at the box office at 9 a.m. Aug. 2. Charge by phone: 526-4400 (Ticketmaster) or 792-2000 (symphony).

Give your pet a treat

There's a cool Web site for pet lovers, www.bestproductsmediaguide.com. It features doggy seatbelts — to prevent your pet from roaming around the car and keeping dog and driver safe — and there are pet umbrellas with a tie-out stake. Some other items to keep your pet cool include a water fountain with a free-falling stream for indoors, and spa treatments in a bottle for that dry and itchy skin.
