Matson to lease auto carrier

Matson Navigation Co. has signed an agreement with Totem Ocean Trailer Express Inc. to lease a ship to more efficiently transport automobiles with a roll-on, roll-off system and better compete with Pasha Hawaii Transport Lines LLC, which plans to serve Hawai'i.
Matson expects to begin sailing the ship from Oakland, Calif., this fall.
Healy Tibbitts wins contract
Healy Tibbitts Builders Inc. of 'Aiea received a $5.9 million contract yesterday to repair a bulkhead at the Fleet and Industrial Supply Center at Pearl Harbor.
Work is expected to be completed by November 2004. The contract was awarded by the Naval Facilities Engineering Command.
Pension fund's suit dismissed
A federal judge in San Jose, Calif., has dismissed a class-action lawsuit that alleged Intel Corp. executives made false statements to inflate the semiconductor giant's stock price.
Attorneys of the lead plaintiff, the Hawaii Reinforcing Iron Workers Pension Trust Fund, did not return calls seeking comment.
Griffin takes regulatory post
Dominic B. "Nick" Griffin has been appointed state commissioner of financial institutions.
He will head the division of financial institutions, which is part of the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs. His responsibilities include supervision and regulation of banks, savings banks, and savings and loans.
Griffin headed a risk management consultancy and was previously with Bank of America and Bank of Hawaii.
ATA will add Honolulu flights
ATA Airlines has announced it will add new daily service from its home base of Indianapolis to Honolulu with a stop in San Francisco beginning Nov. 20.
Meanwhile, shares of ATA Holdings Corp. dropped roughly 19 percent yesterday as the company attempts to restructure outstanding debt of $507.8 million.
