State seeks comment on bike improvement plan
Advertiser Staff
The state is asking people to comment on its draft plan for statewide bicycling improvements.
The plan, a status report on the state of bicycling facilities and a blueprint for future programs, recommends creating hundreds of miles of new bikeways and other facilities on all islands to make bicycling safer and more convenient. It contains a list of priority projects that could most likely be built in the next 10 years.
Printed copies of the plan with full-size maps may be reviewed at public libraries and community college and university libraries. The draft plan can be viewed and downloaded from the state Department of Transportation Web site.
Written or e-mailed comments are being accepted through June 30.
Comments can be sent to Vincent Llorin, Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator, Department of Transportation, 601 Kamokila Blvd., Room 602, Kapolei, HI 96707. Comments may also be sent via e-mail to Vincent.Llorin@hawaii.gov (please include name and mailing address).
The plan will be finalized based on comments received.
Questions and requests for additional information may be directed to Llorin at 692-7675.
