Punahou will hold second annual youth basketball camp June 16-20

Mike Taylor, Interscholastic League of Honolulu girls basketball Coach of the Year of state champion Punahou, will be one of the coaches in the second annual Punahou Youth Basketball Camp scheduled for June 16 to 20.

The camp is open to boys and girls entering grades third through eighth. The camp will be divided into two sessions, girls from 8 a.m. to noon, and boys from 1 to 5. Fee is $125.

The camp also features certified athletic trainers, daily prize giveaways and a snack shop.

Taylor will be joined by Punahou boys head coach Greg Tacon, as well as assistant coaches and varsity players from the school. For information, call 944-5816 or 626-2349.

OFFICIALS

• Referees wanted: The O'ahu Interscholastic Association of Football Officials is looking for referees for varsity and junior varsity games as well as youth programs.

No experience is necessary. Training begins in early July. There is no training fee. For registration information, contact Matt Sumstine at 927-8665 prior to July 10 .

Water polo

• Iolani's Oda at camp: Luke Oda, an Iolani School junior, participated in the National Youth Water Polo Selection Camp in Pomona, Calif., over the Memorial Day weekend.

The camp was composed of 51 of the top high school players from across the country as it selected the top 18 to be on the National Youth "A" Team that plays other countries. Oda did not make the top 18.

Several college coaches attended the four-day event.

Oda, a utility/driver, is a three-year varsity player.
