Maui visitor industry leader named tourism liaison

The position carries a $85,000 annual salary, the same as set for a state department director. Although Lingle initially discussed the possibility of funding the position with the help of private contributions, officials said the salary will be totally state funded through the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism.
Wienert starts her new job on July 1.
