Fire behind school is under control

A brushfire behind Waipahu Intermediate School that started at 3:45 a.m. today was reported under control at 7 a.m., said Fire Department spokesman Capt. Kenison Tejada. Light winds kept the fire from spreading, Tejada said.Today's fire did not threaten property.
Firefighters on Monday battled a brushfire in the same area from 2:45 p.m. to 6:20 p.m. That fire came within 75 feet of the school.
