Mildred Lee, former owner of Chock's TV & Appliance, dead at 82

Advertiser Staff

Mildred Bow Ngan Lee, former owner of Chock's TV & Appliance, died May 30. She was 82.

The family-operated appliance store started in 1930 as Chock's Radio Shop. Lee and her husband, Bill, became part owners of the business in 1946 and purchased it in full in 1962.

Following the recent deaths of Lee's husband and son, the family decided to close the two-story, 6,000-square-foot store on Young Street in March, after 73 years in business.

Lee was a member of Grace Bible Church since 1966, heading its Women's Intercessory Prayer Team and holding weekly mentoring sessions for church members.

Longtime friend and church pastor Millie Ho said Lee "always took everybody into her heart. She never forgot a face or a name."

Lee is survived by a daughter, Sue Ann Lee; sisters, Alice Lo, Estelle Lau and Betty Yee; and five grandchildren. Visitation 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at Diamond Head Mortuary; service at 9:45 a.m. Entombment to follow at Diamond Head Memorial Park. Casual attire.
