Talk to follow film on dying
A free public screening of "Living Your Dying," a documentary on how to approach the end of life, is set for 7 p.m. tomorrow at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa Art Auditorium.
The 57-minute film focuses on the work of Mitsuo Aoki, the minister and former UH religion professor who has been a leading figure in Hawai'i's hospice movement.
The screening will be followed by a discussion by Aoki, executive producer Didi Leong and director Robert Pennybacker. The event is sponsored by the UH Outreach College.
Manoa dog park on agenda today
The possibility of creating a Manoa "bark park," a fenced area where dogs can run free and play together, will be discussed at the Manoa Neighborhood Board meeting at 7 p.m. today at Noelani Elementary School.
Representatives of the Manoa Dog Coalition will give a presentation on their plans.
The board will also discuss stop signs recently installed on Woodlawn Drive at Lowrey Avenue and select delegates to represent the board at Hawaiian Electric Co.'s upcoming public meetings on its plans for a 138,000-volt transmission line.

He'eia project needs a hand
The Friends of He'eia is seeking volunteers to plant native flora and remove mangrove thickets at He'eia State Park on June 14 and 28 and July 12 and 26. Individuals, families and groups are welcome.
Come prepared with sunscreen, a hat and maybe a towel. The workday will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon. For more information, call 247-3156.
Day on the Bay seeks helpers
Organizers of Kane'ohe Day on the Bay 2003 are calling for volunteers for the event, scheduled for July 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Kokokahi YWCA on Kane'ohe Bay Drive.
The program, intended to help build healthy families and friendships, will include free family activities, live entertainment,a craft fair, pony rides and petting zoo, food vendors and free kayaking and sailing.
Help is needed to prepare for and clean up after the event. Water sports assistants, stagehands and other volunteers are needed. Call Jennifer at the Kaneohe Community Family Center, 235-7747.
