Hale Koa work at halfway mark

The military-operated Hale Koa Hotel is about halfway through an eight-year, $40 million renovation.

The renovation projects, spanning 2000 to 2007, include the cafeteria, kitchens, lu'au complex, guest facilities and rooms.



Legal fees for Hawaiian tallied

Hawaiian Airlines' law firm ran up $942,153 in legal fees and $40,416 in expenses to help Hawai'i's largest airline through its bankruptcy proceedings for the month of April, according to documents filed with the federal bankruptcy court.

Hawaiian must pay Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP 80 percent of the legal fees, or $753,722, and all of the expenses.
