UH sailing team second in nationals

Spurred by a strong finish by its B-division team, the University of Hawai'i finished second at the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association North American Coed Dinghy Championships in Detroit.
Harvard won the championship with a low-best score of 165 points, followed by UH (234), St. Mary's (238), Southern California (264) and Tufts (270).
UH's B-division team of Joey Pasquali, Steven Brown, Adam DuMouchelle and Sarah Hitchcock won three races and also placed third, sixth and eighth yesterday. It placed second in B-division with 106 points, helping UH to its best finish ever.
The A-division team of Bryan Lake and Jennifer Warnock placed fourth with 128 points.
VOLLEYBALL
Theocharidis reaps academic honors: Former University of Hawai'i volleyball player Costas Theocharidis has been named to the Verizon Academic All-America Men's At-Large team for university division athletes. Theocharidis, UH's career leader in kills and a four-time All-American, completed his eligibility this past season.
Theocharidis had a 3.73 grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) in business.
He was one of 15 athletes selected to the academic first team.
They represent the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, riflery, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
