Hawai'i boxing champs at Junior Olympics

Eleven Hawai'i boxing champions, ages 15 and 16, will compete in the National Junior Olympics, starting tomorrow in Alexandria, La.

Representing Hawai'i in the 10-day tournament are: Thomas Ordonez (101 pounds, Southside Maui Boxing Club), Chazz Moleta (106, Central Maui Boxing Club), Amadeo Ezzo-White (110, Evolution Pearl City Boxing Club), Kevin Kahoohanohano (114, Wailuku, Maui Boxing Club), Enrique Rivera (119, Kalakaua Boxing Club), Brooks Jumawan (132, Pearlside Boxing Club), Mark Rodriques (138, Palolo Boxing Club), Omar Cabbab (145, Oki Kaua'i Boxing Club), Joseph Branco (154, Palolo Boxing Club), Justin Lawelawe (189, Palolo Boxing Club) and Arvell Spencer (201, East O'ahu Waimanalo Boxing Club).

Finalists at the national event will be eligible to attend the Elite Camp held the following week. Kahoohanohano has already received an at-large bid to attend the camp.

Pearl City Boxing Club's Bruce Kawano has been selected as the USA coach.
