All that glitters — a birthday celebration

Come out to Wave Waikiki's Pussycat Lounge 9 p.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday to celebrate the first birthday of the ever-popular Glitter N Glamour night. Go all out and get glammed up for this month's theme, "Erotica." Versatile Soulstice DJ Mei-Lwun, of OM Records is the headliner, with a special appearance by Fungus, which played at the incarnation of the Pussycat Lounge five years ago. Kakimochi Funk Crew will get its b-boy groove on, and House of Chandelier returns to shake things up. There will be free massages, M.A.C. Cosmetics provides free makeovers, and California Rock 'n' Sushi hosts the free sushi bar until midnight. Cover is $15 before midnight, for 21 and older. 941-0424.


Music under the stars

Aston Hawaii's second Full Moon Concert of the year takes place 6:30-9 p.m. today at the Kapi'olani Park bandstand. Bring a blanket and pack or buy a picnic dinner for a serenade under a clear night sky. Native Blend will be on hand to entertain the crowd with original compositions, and Keawe Lopes will sing traditional Hawaiian-language songs. 'Picture This'... a dance musical

Allegra Performing Arts and Entertainment presents a dansical featuring 140 singers, actors and dancers from the Windward community. The comedy stars a young playwright who collaborates with her aunt to trick her uncle into producing her musical. There are laughs and gaffes along the way as the playwright struggles to open her play. "Picture This" opens at 7 tonight, with additional shows at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Ronald Bright Theater on the Castle High School campus. Drill time

Drill Team Hawaii presents its ninth annual Dance Showcase at 7 tonight in the Hawai'i Theatre. The award-winning performance dance team features girls and women from preschool to college age, with special guests including singer Chrissy Naruo and dancer Chelsey Ai of Halau Hula Olana. The lineup of 37 dance routines will feature a mix of jazz, hip-hop, ballet and gymnastics. Tickets are $17. 528-0506, 258-4864.


Concerts in the twilight

Summer is here, along with an abundance of free concert series around town. On certain Thursdays, 4:30-7 p.m., Foster Botanical Garden will serve as a lush musical haven downtown: Listen to the birds, relish in the greenery and relax to the music of the Twilight Concert Summer 2003. Pack a picnic, spread out a mat and bring an umbrella to this weekly event. This Thursday, the Celtic Pipes and Drums of Hawaii take the stage. Other bands scheduled this summer include the Pacific Fleet Band (July 10), Wild Orchid Band (July 24), and the Harp Ensemble (July 31). Concerts start at 5:45 p.m. 522-7064.


Entrepreneurs get their start

You're never too young to start learning the value of money. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, the Children's Discovery Center is holding its first-ever Keiki Swap Meet at Kaka'ako Waterfront Park, across from the center's front door. Reservations for sellers are sold out, said center president Loretta Yajima, but buyers of all ages are welcome. "It would be a good opportunity to pick up some affordably priced children's items ... teachers can get some items for their classrooms or parents can buy things for their kids," Yajima said. 524-5437.


Tune in at the Tower

Groove to island tunes this summer during "Saturday at the Tower" as Aloha Tower Marketplace hosts free music and fun — 5:30-7 p.m. on Saturdays through July 26 — right on the water.

Tomorrow's headliners are Frank DeLima and Marlene Sai. Future headliners include Kapena and Auntie Genoa Keawe, Del Beazley and Melveen Leed, Darren Benitez and Ku'uipo Kumukahi. 566-2337.

DeLima is all over town this weekend. He also resumes his weekly Friday-Saturday schedule at the Ohana Reef Towers Palace Showroom, starting at 8:30 tonight. Tickets are $22, and children get in free with a paying adult (two-drink minimum per child).

If you still can't get enough of him, join DeLima for a Father's Day Brunch and Show, also featuring Na Kolohe and Pua Melia. Seating for brunch is 10:30 a.m. Sunday, with the show at noon. Tickets are $40 general, $25 children ages 4-12. 923-7469.


Take a walk down Sesame Street

Everything's A-OK when Big Bird and friends come and play. Sesame Street Live is back to chase the clouds away with "1-2-3 ... Imagine!" Prairie Dawn, The Count, Oscar the Grouch and other familiar loveables will help keiki use their imaginations to journey to the ends of the Earth. Join Rosita as she heads for Mexico or Cookie Monster on a surfing expedition off a tropical beach. Tickets are $11, $15 and $19.
