When firefighters arrived at the scene on Fort Weaver Road around 6:30 a.m., one of the homes in the Leeward Estates development was already fully engulfed in flames, said Capt. Scott Lawton, a spokesman for the Honolulu Fire Department.
Two adjacent homes and a storage shack were also damaged in the fire, Lawton said.
The fire was under control within 30 minutes, but the 35 firefighters who were sent to the scene continued fighting the blaze for a while, he said.
The fire completely gutted a single-story, wood-frame house, causing $175,000 in damage to the structure and $25,000 to contents, said Capt. Kenison Tejada, another spokesman for the Honolulu Fire Department.
The fire caused $60,000 in damage to the roof and vinyl siding on another house and $10,000 to its contents. Flames also caused $70,000 in damage to a third house and $10,000 to its contents, Tejada said.
There were no injuries, he said.
